February 2016 Value Project: Push Pins
This project took a long time to figure out. I had to first find a picture of me and turn it into a perfect square using Photoshop. I took that picture and made it into 40 by 40 black and white pixels. Some of the students in my class used different beans, Skittles, M&Ms, but I was the only one who used push pins. The only true rule to this project was to have 5 colors ranging from dark to light. Using the swatches tool, I created the colors of the push pins and individually went through to choose color difference.
Using the same 40 by 40 scale, I drew lines 1/2 an inch apart on a piece of paper that I eventually glued on a foam board. I had to keep buying packets of push pins to get all the colors I needed. In total, this project required 1,600 push pins. It was very tedious and hurt to constantly push after a while. All in all it was very successful and I am proud of my work.

December 2015 Romare Bearden Collage
This project was inspired by artist, Romare Bearden. He was most famous for his collages depicting African-American life. The purpose of this project was to pick a memory and to create a collage not just of the area, but also how you felt.
This memory was in Epcot during the firework show my freshman year band trip. The sky was full of color and gas. The two figures on the bottom are my boyfriend and I watching the fireworks. His shirt has words he used to describe the trip and my shirt has pictures to describe it. We are standing in back of a crowd of people with a fence holding them back. The Earth on the left is like the metal Earth in the middle of Epcot's lake.
I used magazines for about 80% of this work. I used sheet music for one of the fireworks. My shirt is made out of yellow masking tape. The arms, heads, and necks were cut out of watercolor paper. I also used oil pastel for both of the heads of hair and used a back of a brush for the texture.
